Kelly, my wife, has pneumonia. Pray that she gets better.
I am almost finished with the project at the Press Building. I have been working every Saturday for a few weeks. I will be working at least one more weekend.
Youth Life Group will be shifting to every week. I have a short study planned. Need to get prepared for the study after that.
Finally getting a youth ministry team together. Hope to have a meeting in a few weeks.
The 26th of this month we will be taking a trip to DC. I used to hate DC and never wanted to come into the city for work. During the past year I have grown to love this place. I love the architecture of all the old buildings and monuments. My heart aches at the homeless on the street. I love the diversity of the people in the city. Never thought I would say it, but I love working in this city. I still don’t like the commute, traffic, and parking. I don’t even mind the tourist, except during the cherry blossom festival. All that to say, I have heard rumors that my next job site will be back in Virginia, in the Reston area. I should know sometime this afternoon.

It’s baseball season. That means several youth are starting their seasons plus the church’s softball team is getting ready to start. In honor of that, I figured I would put up an inspirational video for all you ball players.

I am not dead, i just feel like it. I am finishing up my construction project in DC. That is soaking up a huge amount of time and brain power. I am starting work at 4AM several times over the past couple of weeks and it is hard to recover from that. Plus I have several youth things keeping me busy right now. I hope to lighten up within a week or two.
We had a good parents meeting this past Sunday. The biggest outcome from the meeting will be a change for Youth Life Group.

Well the protesters were to lazy to get up with me at 3AM. In fact the “massive” protest planned ended up being somewhat anti-climatic, unless you consider “dozens arrested and over a hundred people marching” massive. Personally my count of what I saw was :
250 extra police officers riding up and down 14th street on Smith & Wesson bicycles
versus
0 protesters
In another story, I pass by a large pool on my way home from work every day. During the winter it resembles a festering swamp. Literally. All the leaves from fall have filled it up and the water is black and evil looking. During the summer it is filled with children using it as the largest public urinal in the area (Not that I ever peed in the pool as a kid, but I hear that some people did. Really, I never did and you can’t prove otherwise. Oh, and if you ever wondered, the water doesn’t turn red, not that I know from personal exper … alright maybe I did once…or twice…or more… but now that I am an adult I don’t ever do it…usually).
Anyways back to my story. On Sunday I saw a large group of people congregating around the black water pool with some sort of pump circulating water. I noticed the next day the same group was back but I notice some had chairs set up around the pool and they were watching the water. On Tuesday they were back and I noticed they weren’t just watching the water but they had fishing poles. Are you kidding me! I almost crashed my truck. Do you understand how surreal it is to see 20-30 sitting around a large swimming pool… fishing! That night my wife and I drove by and I commented on the crazy people at the pool. My wife informed me of the huge sign on the corner that informed all aware people driving down the road that it was a trout “Pool Fish Out.”
You really do see something new everyday. By the way, you only have until this Sunday to fish in my neighborhood pool.

I am currently working a couple of streets over from the White House. Tomorrow there are a bunch of anti-war protest scheduled. I am not looking forward to this. I am starting work at 4AM though and should avoid most of the problems. I will bring a camera and try and get some interesting pictures.

I had a chance to speak with the area director for the missions trip.
These are the service opportunities we will have on our missions trip. We will have a chance to spend some time witnessing at an rest home. We will be running a Kid Club (Vacation Bible School). We will have some work projects which could range from painting houses to cleaning up vacant lots. We will also work with the children at the Boys and Girls Club on the Passamaquoddy Indian Reservation. You may not do all of these activities, but you will do at least one or two of them.
Tell me something interesting about the Passamaquoddy Indian Tribe.

We filled our final slot for the missions trip today. We now have 16 youth signed up.
There are still 3 slots available, but they are not locked in. If you are interested, please contact me ASAP so I can get those slots reserved.
I have the lowdown on what we will be doing while we are there. I will start trickling out info so stay tuned.

In our youth Sunday school class yesterday, we looked at how our attitude affects our view of God, circumstances, and our leaders. One of the things we discussed is how we view work and school. I had referenced an article from Justin Taylor about a Christian view of work.
Here is the link to that article. It is a good read for any one who has a job (e.g., military, wife, mother, student, pastor).

I figured out this past weekend that I was not getting any e-mail from my LifeCC account. Josh finally figured out the problem yesterday and I have been checking a months worth of e-mail. I apologize if you sent me an e-mail and I did not respond. I should get back to you before the end of this weekend.
Next Thursday, Jeremy Camp and Toby Mac will be in concert at the Patriot Center. If you are interested let me know. We may get an informal group heading up there.
Pray for the ladies of the church as they have their women’s retreat this weekend.
